STYGION Launcher a0.8.0
Account and friends
- Signing in is one button. Press Connect, your browser opens on a page that already knows which launcher is asking, and one button finishes it. Nothing to copy — the readable code is only there for a machine whose browser will not open.
- Friends, chat and who is playing what are back. The whole account layer was talking to a backend that had stopped existing, and failing quietly as an empty list. Rebuilt: ask, accept, write, see who is online and what they are in.
- Reports go into the one queue. The launcher filed into an inbox of its own; now it lands where everything else does and can be carried on from the website.
Modpacks
- Install asks which version, with the newest already selected — so the common case is one extra click and the uncommon one is possible at all.
- Move between versions, forward or back. A newer one out is said on the card, on the detail
and once before launch. Broke something? Go back to the one that worked.
Worlds are never touched,
mods/is emptied and your oldconfig/is kept beside the new one. - An install can be cancelled. At any point, background ones included, and it leaves nothing behind.
Playing
- A Play button on somebody else's website. A player clicks it on a server's page, the launcher opens, asks once — and from there to standing in the game they touch nothing. Server owners make their own in their STYGION account, under Developers — and because the button is a picture served from us, renaming a server or changing pack updates every page carrying it.
Look and feel
- Everything you touch answers back. The press shows on every button and every card.
- Things that finish say so. An installed pack, a failure, a backup — a message instead of silence.
- A failed load no longer claims you own nothing. Every screen that lists something — library, servers, worlds, the home rows, the command palette, your reports — tells "you have none" apart from "we could not ask", and offers to try again.
- Errors are sentences, not the raw text from the core.
- Windows leave the way they arrived, and keep the keyboard inside them.
- Pack art arrives instead of appearing. A cover fades in over the colour it is going to be, so a cold scroll through the catalog no longer flashes grey rectangles.
- The library draws its shape before it has the contents, in the size the cards will be, so nothing jumps when they land.
- Numbers hold still while they change, everywhere, not in the eight places that asked.
- Switching view moves the way you went — down the rail or back up it — and cards cast a shadow at rest, so lifting one looks like lifting rather than floating.
Linux
- The white window. WebKitGTK's DMA-BUF renderer is off, and the AppImage carries its own webkit2gtk with everything around it — one download, nothing to install.
Fixes
- Stop and Kill end the whole process tree, not only the first one.
- The home background is a gradient rather than a stretched pack logo, and can no longer wander into green.
