Your idea finds out how it ended

Fourteen people wanted it, it shipped three months later, and nobody told you. That was the last time you voted for anything.

You press “I want this too” on somebody else’s idea. So do fourteen other people. Three months later it ships — and nobody tells you. Congratulations: that was the last time you voted for anything.

That is what we fixed on 17 August. The ending now sits on the idea itself: “14 people wanted this · shipped in a1.4.2”. For whoever wrote it, for everybody who wanted it, and for the person who finds the thread in a year and wonders whether anything ever came of it.

A product page cannot promise more than the download holds

The list of what the launcher does was typed into the page by hand. Next to the roadmap, where all of it already was. Two lists of one thing always drift apart, and the one that drifts is always the one doing the selling.

So the page reads it from the roadmap instead. And a feature only reaches “what it does” once a release that actually went out carried it. “We are finished” and “you can download it” are two different sentences, and a page may only say the second one.

Resolved is not locked

When we mark something resolved, the thread closes to everybody else. The person who wrote it can still say “it still does not work for me” — and that sends the whole thing back to us. A thread nobody is left to answer is a person with a problem and nowhere to write.

None of it was switched on that evening: the site it belonged to was still being rebuilt. It all went live on 22 August, together.
